Kathy Staats is a public health policy professional who is thrilled to be joining the New Leaders Council. She currently holds the position of Prevention & Policy Specialist at the Tri-County Health Department, supporting municipal-level chronic disease prevention policy processes. Starting in this area of work as a teen advocate, she draws on her background in substance abuse prevention and coalition building to inform the community-oriented way she approaches advocacy and education. A lifelong self-proclaimed “theatre kid”, she also feels passionately about bringing stage skills to the public health advocacy and storytelling sphere. Having just moved to Boulder in summer 2018, she continues to try and live out her motto of blooming where she is planted.
