Katherine McDevitt
Physical Education Teacher, Gresham-Barlow School District

Katherine McDevitt is a native New Yorker who found her way to Portland, Oregon. As an Elementary Physical Education teacher, she is passionate about personal growth, a healthy lifestyle, and helping others. As a stipulation to moving to Oregon, she promised herself that she would execute her vision of establishing a non-profit that encompasses her passions and personal connections to those who have been affected by sexual assault. Her non-profit organization, Already Strong, seeks to help support trauma victims, specifically sexual assault and rape victims, through the aftercare process of an event. Already Strong's goal is to help survivors find physical outlets, and a support system of other survivors in their community. She feels privileged that Portland is the community in which Already Strong will be founded.

McDevitt earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education from Queens College in Flushing, New York. Since moving to Portland, Katherine has enjoyed teaching the youth of Gresham, Oregon about the importance of movement, how to interact with others, and how everyone is capable of great things in life. In her spare time, she competes in Olympic Weightlifting and holds a USAW Level 1 Coaching Certificate. She is honored to coach youth girls in the sport of lacrosse while serving as the Junior Varsity Lacrosse Coach for Cleveland High School. She also enjoys entertaining West Coast folks with her thick Long Island accent, plays flag football, explores the beautiful Pacific Northwest region, enjoys hiking, and picks up what you're putting down.
