Kanika is a business consultant with an expertise in industrial IoT and a passion for sustainability. At Hitachi Consulting, she uses sensor analytics to improve energy efficiency and reduce waste in industries such as consumer packaged goods, electronics, and construction. She has been an advocate for LGBTQ equality in the corporate world and successfully amended multiple company policies to establish parity and eliminate possible sources of discrimination in the workplace. Recently, her love for animals led her to serve as an advisor for the Leap Venture Studio which featured six companies from around the globe that are making a difference in the pet ecosystem.

Prior to her foray into consulting, Kanika was a process engineer with Intel’s Technology and Manufacturing Group - a role that piqued her interest in the people impact of advanced innovation and automation. She co-founded a design & engineering firm focused on creating clean energy solutions inspired by the art of origami and actively engages with the Portland startup community. Kanika enjoys leveraging her varied background to uplift the work of other diverse founders and is a mentor for the Portland Incubator Experiment.

Kanika was born and raised in Mumbai, India and moved to the US in 2010. She holds a Ph.D. in Materials Science & Engineering and a Master’s in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan. Although she cannot vote yet, Kanika likes to stay involved in local politics by canvassing for progressive ballot measures and volunteering at voter registration drives. She is a lifelong supporter of Liverpool F.C. and an amateur field hockey player. Kanika loves Oregon’s natural beauty and you’re likely to find her rock climbing or hiking with her pets on most (sunny) weekends.
