Marketing & Communications Consultant, Elder Voice Family Advocate
K. Cross is an experienced nonprofit professional, consultant, and educator with a passion for youth work, project management, and creating equitable, accessible systems to support mission-driven work. They discovered their passion for youth work as a middle school science teacher on Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. There, they honed their abilities to facilitate rigorous conversations, engage youth, and leverage groan-worthy puns to drive learning. These skills proved vital for the roles that have followed. They have served as the inaugural program director for the creative writing nonprofit, 826MSP; the Operations Director for Minneapolis- based social enterprise Two Bettys Green Cleaning; are a certified cultural competency trainer for the Minnesota Professional Educator Licensure Standards Board; and currently support local nonprofits through marketing and communications consulting. Beyond the office, Cross is a fervent cook, coffee fanatic, and museum- goer. They served two years on the steering committee for the YNPN and Emerging Practitioners in Philanthropy Leadership Institute (EYLI) where they enjoyed learning from and mentoring emerging leaders across the sector. Currently, are a Teach For America Twin Cities PRISM Board member where they advocate for LGBTQ2S+ inclusive schools and curriculum. After a lifetime of moving around as an Army Brat, they are proud to make their home in South Minneapolis alongside their fiance Becky, sixteen year old cat, and ever- growing jungle of house plants.
