Community Organizer, People Acting for Community Together
Julia Montejo is a community organizer and advocate in South Florida. Growing up as an undocumented immigrant in the Jupiter, FL area, she developed a passion for advocacy and public speaking. After attending Cornell University, where she was elected Vice President for Diversity and Inclusion on the Student Assembly, she returned to South Florida and began her career as a community organizer at People Acting for Community Together, an interfaith, direct action organization based in Miami, FL. In addition to her professional career, Julia spends her free time volunteering for candidates and causes she believes in, including the Florida 2020 Victory coordinated campaign and Women’s March Youth Empower. Julia is also passionate about writing and visual art. She creates paintings and greeting cards in various mediums, and has fundraised for charitable causes through social media art sales. Her writing has also been featured in various publications and projects, including IvyUntold, Remezcla, and a choral composition performed around the country. She seeks to combine her artistic and creative passions with her advocacy work. Julia hopes to continue to impact the immigrant community and the greater community in order to seek positive, progressive change.
