Jonas Silver
Town of Knightdale, Public Information Officer

Jonas Silver is a proud native of North Carolina, working his way to his current position of Public Information Officer through many community minded positions along the way. Jonas's position is the liaison for residents, Town Council, and the Mayor's office for Knightdale, North Carolina, ensuring that all incoming and outgoing communications are effective and available for all.

Jonas' expertise also includes non-profit fundraising through his work as Head Alumni Fundraiser and Alumni Director for the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA), where he assessed, created, and executed a five year strategic plan, increasing alumni giving to the school from $190,000 per year to over $500,000 per year.

In the private sector, Jonas was Sales Director for WasteZero, an environmental programs company, where he managed a $2 Million portfolio and a 32 state territory, bringing in new clients for their Pay-As-You-Throw recycling program.

In politics, Jonas has always been involved in some form or another.  He worked on a bid for US Senate by Cal Cunningham as his Special Assistant and Political Fundraiser, and has been engaged in many education based initiatives throughout his professional career.

Jonas is a product of the North Carolina Public School System, as an elementary, middle, high school, and college graduate of North Carolina public schools. His mother recently retired from her career as a Wake County Public School teacher, and his father, a Purple Heart recipient for his service with the Marines during the Vietnam War, recently retired from management consulting. A strong upbringing with focus on education through his mother, and communication strategy through his father, helped to guide and focus Jonas in his professional career.

He is a proud father of three children, and husband to Maiya Silver.  They live in the Town of Knightdale, where Jonas' roots run deep. He is the 11th generation of his family to live in the Knightdale area, making him a true Tar-Heel!
