Joey Gleason is a small business owner with a strong interest in community development. She has been a small business owner for over 15 years.
She is the founder of Marigold Coffee, a coffee roasting company in Portland Oregon and Co-founder of Buckman Coffee Factory. She is the current president of Oregon Coffee Board.
Marigold Coffee focuses on roasting and serving unique coffees, sustainably sourced, building long term relationships with customers, the community, farmers and importers.
Starting in 2018 Marigold Coffee has had a special relationship with Street Roots, an organization that creates income opportunities for people experiencing homelessness and poverty. Marigold Coffee and Street Roots created a unique roasted coffee brand Street Roast, where Marigold Coffee donates all proceeds from the sales back to the Street Roots organization. This has been a way to provide Street Roots with reliable donations, as well as an avenue to raise awareness about their organization and mission.
Buckman Coffee Factory is a shared-roasting facility and coffee education space that brings together and provides services for coffee roasters, coffee farmers and importers, cafe owners, all people who work in coffee and want to learn from each other.
Joey and Cassy Gleason started Buckman Coffee Factory with the idea that many small businesses sharing the cost of resources like equipment and facilities can more easily compete with much larger companies. Buckman Coffee Factory currently has over 30 companies of various sizes roasting in its facility and serves as a small business incubator as well as a space where people from all companies and capacities can come and learn from each other.
Oregon Coffee Board is a volunteer board representing over 50 Oregon Coffee businesses. Their goal is to promote Oregon coffee to consumers and to support the businesses and their employees.
