Jenise Bermudez has a long-standing zeal for environmental conservation, sustainability as a movement, and ethical banking. Currently, Jenise is the Assistant Vice President, Account Executive for the Colorado market at Amalgamated Bank, a "Best for the World" 2019 honoree, B Corp certified financial institution with a mission to be the socially responsible bank for those who are working towards making the world more just, compassionate and sustainable. Jenise achieved a Certificate of Completion in Sustainable Management from UC Berkeley Extension in 2019 and is a member of Good Business Colorado, Metro Area's Sustainable Environment Working Group. In 2017 Jenise was a member of the Fund Development Committee for YWCA San Francisco & Marin, an organization with a mission to empower women and eliminate racism.
Jenise began her career with the bank in 2012 when she joined San Francisco-based New Resource Bank, a "Best for the World" 2014-2018 honoree, B Corp certified bank with a mission to promote sustainability through banking and founding member of the Global Alliance for Banking on Values (GABV). She immediately joined the company's Green Team Committee, of which she has been the co-chair for the last four years. Inspired by the advocacy work of one of her non-profit clients, Jenise organized a fundraising event featuring a silent auction in the Fall of 2014. With the goal of raising funds to purchase a rainwater catchment system for an indigenous family severely impacted by oil spills in the Ecuadorian Amazon, she was overjoyed to achieve her goal by almost double. Shortly thereafter, she traveled with a delegation group to Ecuador to see her impact first-hand.
In 2018 New Resource Bank merged with Amalgamated Bank, and later that year Jenise relocated to Denver, CO, to serve commercial clients nationally and build the bank's presence in Colorado. Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Jenise was the first in her family to attend college immediately following high school graduation. Shortly after graduating from Santa Rosa Junior College with an Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Arts & Sciences, she began her career in banking.
In the words of GABV, Jenise believes that only by changing finance, are we able to finance change. She believes that businesses have a powerful role to play in shaping our society and should be forces for good, contributing to positive social and environmental change for all.
