Janay Hawthorne
City of Philadelphia, Public Health Program Analyst

Janay Hawthorne is Program Analyst within the Philadelphia Department of Public Health’s AIDS Activities Coordinating Office. In this role, she monitors and evaluates programs by contracted agencies that provide HIV prevention and care services within Philadelphia and its surrounding counties. Janay is a proud graduate of The Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biobehavioral health, and Drexel University’s Master of Public Health program with a concentration in Epidemiology. A Philadelphia native from a family of public servants, Janay is passionate about uplifting the Philadelphia community and positively impacting people in any way possible. Being a daughter of a Philadelphia teacher and firefighter, and granddaughter of Philadelphia police officers, dedication to Philadelphians and progressively improving the city for everyone’s benefit is ingrained in her DNA.

Janay is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. an organization that has cultivated her passion for public service. She currently serves as the Vice President of the Penn State African-American Alumni Organization of Greater Philadelphia and is an active union member of AFSCME District Council 47, as an alternate steward and College Debt Clinic instructor. In her spare time, Janay is the Servant Leader of the girls’ soccer program at Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church. When she isn’t earnestly completing things on her seemingly endless “To-Do” list, Janay enjoys spending quality time with her husband and family.
