Ivana Bejaran is the Parent Organizer for Stand for Children Colorado working on early literacy efforts and empowering parents to get more involved in their communities and schools. She graduated from Manhattanville College in 2016 with a Bachelors Dual-Degree in International Studies and Communications, which led her to find the world of organizing through fundraising canvassing in the streets of New York City for an environmental non-profit. After she graduated she took a job with Change Corps, a one-year training academy for activists, where she got to travel to Colorado, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Arizona and Washington to work on short -term high impact campaigns to turn registered voters out to vote, protect the affordable care act, raise awareness and protect consumer financial protections, raise awareness and stop the global gap rule, and raise funds to protect waterways in our country.
Being raised in the Dominican Republic she saw a lot of gender, age, and income-based discrimination and disparity on access to quality health care, social services but more importantly quality education. She aspires to be able to work on development projects in the Dominican Republic to improve the public-school system and build a more inclusive society giving every citizen of the Dominican Republic a fair chance to succeed in a competitive job economy.
