Iryna Ilyk, M.S., is an engineer and manager in transition to pursue her goal of becoming a Project Manager in sustainable industries. She has over a decade of experience in Engineering Management for oil and gas companies in Ukraine and US, working on multinational projects with $18M-$34M budgets.
She is the founder, teacher, and organizer of Argentine tango school, "Be In Tango," started in 2017. She is working toward establishing it as a non-profit with purpose of creating inclusive, diverse, stereotype-free and respectful dance space, where all feel free to express themselves and connect. Since 2018 she has organized an annual tango marathon focused on providing as inclusive, safe, partner dance environment. It brings 200 dancers from over 73 cities to Houston every year.
She is committed to bringing the benefits of dance to all, including those previously excluded from traditional and gendered partner dances like tango. She has provided free tango classes for the Refugee Single Mothers Transform program and The Montrose Center, as she believes dance can heal and social activities should be available to everyone.
