Haikel Negash was born and raised in Asmara, Eritrea. She graduated from Asmara College of Health Sciences in Eritrea with a Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy in 2010. She then worked at the same College as a Teaching Assistant for 2 years and came to the US to pursue her graduate studies. She graduated with a Master's degree in Health Outcomes Research from Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in 2013. She then worked towards getting her Pharmacist license in the US and worked as a Clinical Pharmacist at UPMC Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA.
Having practised Clinical Pharmacy for two years, she now plans to navigate the health policy aspect of pharmacy where she did her graduate studies on.
Haikel is cofounder of Eritrea Diaspora Medical Association, a non profit organization that aspires to help Eritreans with their healthcare needs by providing web based medical information. She is also working towards establishing professional and community groups of Eritrean-Americans in the Boston area.
