Haaris is deeply committed to civil rights and to building an inclusive and equitable community. He also aspires to build a movement-based politics that places marginalized and underserved persons at the center of our political conversation.
He is currently a third-year law student at the University of Minnesota Law School. He serves as a research assistant at the Robina Institute of Criminal Law and Criminal Justice. He also served as a research assistant for a number of professors at the American University Washington College of Law, working on publications about race, poverty, and the law.
Haaris has worked at the Immigrant Justice Clinic in Washington D.C., defending immigrants in deportation proceedings and asylum case. He also worked at the Minneapolis City Attorney's office as a member of the Misdemeanor Prosecutions Clinic, and is a member of the University of Minnesota Law School Housing Clinic. He was a Summer Associate at Stinson Leonard Street LLP in Minneapolis. He currently serves as an extern with Representative Dave Pinto in the Minnesota House of Representatives.
