Emily Burris is a proud Oklahoma woman whose roots in the state run deep. Born and raised in Broken Arrow - she is an alumna of Oklahoma State University, as well as the vice president of the OKC alumni chapter of the Tri Delta sorority. Emily and her husband Kyle reside in Yukon where Emily dedicates her professional time serving as an Instructional Specialist at Independence Elementary School. Emily's passion for Oklahoma education and children led her to become an active advocate for both when she founded the nonprofit organization Operation Engagement, which provides student engagement resources and professional development to teachers. Operation Engagement is the result of Emily's desire to establish a system of support for teachers that promotes the mindset that teaching and learning can both be fun. Emily is working tirelessly to expand her nonprofit to not only serve the elementary population but also the middle school and high school. Through the implementation of a student advisory council, Emily has enabled students to have a voice in the engagement strategies used at the secondary level. In her free time, Emily enjoys spending precious time at the lake with her fabulous family, expanding her literary palate with a variety of audio books, and traveling to sample amazing culinary cuisine.
