Dexter Bush-Scott
Director of Sorority Growth, Gamma Phi Beta Sorority

Dexter Bush-Scott was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia. He graduated from The College of William and Mary in 2008 with his bachelor's degree in psychology and sociology. While at William and Mary, Dexter discovered a passion for helping students through his roles as a resident assistant, tour guide, admissions intern, and student leader. He graduated from Virginia Tech in 2010 with a master's degree in educational leadership and policy studies with a concentration in higher education administration. At Virginia Tech, Dexter supported four culturally-based organizations and their programs though his graduate assistantship in Multicultural Programs and Services. In 2010, Dexter moved to Boston, Massachusetts where he spent seven years working at Northeastern University facilitating leadership programs, advising student organizations and leaders, and advocating for changes to improve the student experience. One of his proudest accomplishments was working with colleagues from the cultural centers to start Empower - an initiative for students of color - after recognizing a need to help improve the experience for students of color at Northeastern. Empower was created as a retreat for students of color to build community, share their experiences, and develop their skills with other students of color. Empower still exists at Northeastern today and has evolved from a retreat to include the Empower Conference and Empower Fellows. Dexter was also able to infuse diversity and inclusion training into fraternity/sorority life through his office's new member education program, chapter/council president meetings, and the Diversity/Inclusion Task Force for fraternity/sorority life. He served on several university committees and was a volunteer for the Northeast Greek Leadership Association, Commission for Student Involvement through the American College Personnel Association, and his fraternity, Beta Theta Pi. Dexter moved to Denver, Colorado in 2017 to work for Gamma Phi Beta Sorority as the Director of Sorority Growth. In this role, Dexter is responsible for the strategic growth of the organization which includes starting new chapters of the Sorority and supporting recruitment efforts for existing chapters. He recently served on the Belonging and Inclusion Task Force and is excited to see how the task force's recommendations are implemented throughout the organization. Outside of work, Dexter is a member of the Denver Gay & Lesbian Flag Football League and Colorado Gay Volleyball Association. Dexter feels settled in Denver and is ready to explore how he can make an impact on the community.
