Denise Del Aguila serves as the Director of College Success for IDEA Public Schools, supporting and managing college access strategies for students in Austin and San Antonio. She began her career as a high school English teacher, and has experience in public and charter school systems, as well as the education non-profit sector; in her most recent role she served as the Director of Alumni Engagement with Teach For America. She received her BA in English Literature from the University of New Mexico, and her Masters in Prevention Science and Practice from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, with her research focusing on holistic family engagement for secondary students. Outside of her work, she is an active member of the Junior League of Austin, an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism and improving communities through action. In addition to her volunteer work, her interests include baking, reading, and exploring the Austin-area, her home since the Fall of 2018. Denise is a proud New Mexican, and looks forward to fully engaging with her other NLC fellows and continuing her impact.
