Debby Marroquin is a Legislative Assistant for Assembly Member Reggie Jones-Sawyer. In her time in the State Legislature, Debby has worked on policy and budget issues related to education, labor, taxation, economic development and cannabis. Prior to working in the Assembly, Debby was an Executive Fellow at the State Treasurer's Office, where she worked on policy and legislation related to banking, housing and taxation. Prior to participating in the Executive Fellowship Program, Debby was a Summer Loveridge Fellow at the Institute for Local Governments. She also participated in the Public Policy Internship Program at University of California Sacramento Center.
Debby is a proud immigrant from Guatemala and is passionate about issues affecting the Latino community. Debby served on the Board of the Directors for the California Latino Capitol Association Foundation (CLCAF), a non-profit organization dedicated to providing support and professional development to Latina(o) staffers working in and around the State Capitol. In her two years serving as Treasurer, Debby managed the organization's finances and non-profit status. She also developed the inaugural mentorship program "Latinas in Politics," a program that offers the unique opportunity for Latina young professionals to be mentored by Latina State Legislators.
Debby holds a degree in Political Science with an emphasis in Law and Society from the University of California Riverside.
