David Nelson currently serves as Director of Operations and Finance for New Jersey Policy Perspective. In his current role, David is responsible for the daily operation of the organization, including financial management, IT, human resources, and board management. In addition to his organizational management work, David also leads the planning and management of NJPP's annual policy conference. David graduated in 2011 from Ithaca College with a BA in politics. He is currently pursuing an MPA at Rutgers University with a focus in public budgeting and finance.
Prior to New Jersey Policy Perspective, David worked for Princeton AlumniCorps as Operations Manager. The organization focuses on engaging the Princeton University alumni community in civic service work through fellowships, professional development, and skills-based volunteering. He began his career work in conference planning. From 2010-2011 he worked for the Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival, a weeklong festival that embraces and interrogates sustainability across all of its forms: economic, social, ecological, political, cultural, technological, and aesthetics. After completely completing his BA he served as a line cook in a Cajun restaurant before joining Left Forum conference as a lead conference coordinator. Born and raised on the Jersey Shore, David enjoys cooking, traveling, and skiing.
