Darlene grew up in Lincolnton, North Carolina, which significantly shaped her political perspective. Her activism, love for travel, and consistent community involvement has fueled her passion for social change work since she graduated from UNC Wilmington. Darlene has worked with a variety of issue-based non-profits that span from Washington, D.C. to Portland. She is most passionate about racial equity, voting rights, environmental justice, and government accountability and reform. She returned back to North Carolina in 2015 and has been organizing throughout Western North Carolina since.
