Danni Wang
Communications Director, California State Assembly

Danni Wang is the Communications Director for California State Assemblywoman Christy Smith. Her responsibilities include overseeing all press and media operations in the office. Previously, Danni was a Field Representative/Communications Deputy for an Assembly Member representing the Eastside of Los Angeles, where she acted as the liaison between the elected and some of the most historic Asian and Pacific Islander (API) communities, including Chinatown and Historic Filipinotown.

Since grade school, Danni has been heavily involved in student journalism. This culminated in her participation with the Daily Trojan, University of Southern California’s daily collegiate newspaper. During her senior year of college, Danni served as the paper’s Editor-in-Chief.

Danni is extremely passionate about API empowerment. In addition to her experience as the API liaison for a government office, she started her career in ethnic media marketing, with a focus on disseminating culturally competent information to communities of color. She also served on the board of OCA-GLA, an organization dedicated to the advancement of Asian Americans.

Originally from Overland Park, Kansas, Danni came to Los Angeles to attend the University of Southern California, where she received a B.A. in Psychology and minor in Gender Studies. She’s fully a Los Angeles convert — except when it comes to the Kansas City Royals!
