Executive Director, Baltimore City House Delegation, Maryland General Assembly

Christel York is a lifelong Baltimore City resident who has devoted her career to public service. She found fulfillment in helping others while working as a client housing assistant for People Encouraging People, Inc. (PEP), a mental health and homeless services organization in Baltimore City. The experience she gained at PEP encouraged Christel to pursue employment in local city and state government. She first acquired a position in the Maryland General Assembly as Community Liaison for the 43rd Legislative District in Northeast Baltimore. A few years later, Christel became Constituent Services Manager in the Baltimore City Council for the 7th Council District in West Baltimore. Currently, Christel is the Executive Director for the Baltimore City House Delegation in the Maryland General Assembly. In her role, she collaborates with government agencies and community stakeholders to manage legislative priorities for sixteen members of the Baltimore City House Delegation during the 90-day Legislative Session and Interim. When Christel is not working in public service, she serves as board secretary for the African American Fire Fighters Historical Society (AAFFHS) in Baltimore City and is a member of Morgan State University Toastmasters. Christel is a proud mom and enjoys spending time with family and friends.
