Caroline (Carly) Phelps is excited to join the Kentucky Chapter of NLC. Carly is an associate attorney at Stites & Harbison where her practice focuses on tort and insurance law. A Texas native, Carly moved to Louisville in elementary school and grew up in the Highlands neighborhood. For her undergraduate degree, she returned to Texas to attend the University of Texas in Austin where she majored in government and minored in Spanish. Carly loved living in Austin but her favorite semester of college was the fall of 2011 when she was selected for the Archer Fellowship Program which allowed her to live and study in Washington D.C. while working as an intern in the office of Congressman John Yarmuth.
Although she was accepted to attend law school immediately after college, Carly deferred her enrollment for a year to pursue an opportunity to teach English in a small town outside of Lima, Peru. Carly returned and attended the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law. While in law school, Carly served as the Managing Editor for the University of Louisville Law Review and the Vice President of Communications for the Student Bar Association. She graduated from Brandeis Law in May of 2017 and was admitted into the Kentucky Bar that October. After law school, Carly served a two-year term as a judicial clerk for Judge Joseph H. McKinley in the Western District of Kentucky in Owensboro. Finally, Carly moved back to Louisville this September and decided that this time she is here to stay.
