Briona Jenkins
Out Youth, Development Coordinator

I’m Briona (or just Bri to everyone I meet). I am a daughter, (adoptive) sister, godmother, and aunt. I am also a bookworm, life-long learner, activist, singer, podcast lover and home chef. A Connecticut girl born and raised but I was raised by southerners. My life has not been perfect, but it has been beautiful.

Born and raised in Hamden, CT, a suburb of the city of New Haven with a population of 60,960 in the 2010 census. Hamden is the town of Hamden ranked #53 on the of "America's best small cities" in 2012. I grew up with two loving parents until my mom passed in 2006 from cancer. I attended a liberal arts college and graduated in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a concentration in Social Work. I later when on to work with adults and children with developmental disabilities, which lead me to working at a school for children who have autism. After that career I went to work with families experiencing homelessness, helping them to find an affordable place to live.

I moved to Austin, TX at the end of May 2016 and I have been living the most beautiful, genuine life that I can imagine. Since moving here I have continued to work in nonprofits, joined two nonprofit boards, and became more immersed in the LGBTQIA+ community after coming out.
