Candidate for MPA Nonprofit Management, Portland State University

Blythe Garma is a graduate student at Portland State University studying Public Administration with a focus on nonprofit management. She is especially passionate about increasing representation in nonprofit leadership. She previously worked as a Case Manager at a primary healthcare clinic on the West side of Chicago, where she is originally from, and worked intimately with marginalized groups for over three years. Her work with primarily Latinx and African American communities have informed her on the importance of cultural competency. Her experience has highlighted the unending barriers that many people face when trying to care for themselves and their families. Blythe is committed to addressing these inequities and promoting inclusion not only in the workplace but also within her own community. She strongly believes that there are no small roles and everyone should have a seat at the table. Playing music is a large part of her life and tries to play whenever she can. She has also learned to love the Oregon coast even though her love for Lake Michigan will never die.
