Ben Wyman is a Maine native and graduated from the University of Maine with a B.A. in History and Political Science in 2014 and obtained an M.A. from the University of Maine in Communication and Journalism in 2017 with a focus on environmental communication.
After graduating, Ben moved to Portland with his wife, Haley — a soon to be graduate of the University of Maine School of Law — and their dog, Luna, where he wanted to involve himself in the community while working towards environmental conservation and climate change mitigation. He joined and currently serves as the communication chair for the Sebago Chapter of Trout Unlimited, which fights for native trout and fish species conservation in southern Maine through education and advocacy on both local and state levels. Additionally, Ben has volunteered with the Nature Conservancy of Maine on a wetlands restoration project, and the Maine Chapter of the Sierra Club.
He has always fostered a strong desire to help people and better his community and since becoming a realtor earlier this year with The Atlantic Real Estate Network, he has put his money where his mouth is and joined 1% For the Planet. To his knowledge he is the only realtor in southern Maine that is partnered with the organization or has pledged 1% of their salary to an environmental non-profit. His partnership with Friends of Acadia is helping provide resources and visibility of the non-profit's work to the the southern Maine area, and he hopes his actions will help spark others in his industry to step up and pledge their money and time to give back to the community that takes care of them.
