Autumn Mitchell is a Policy Advisor for the Ohio House of Representatives Democratic Caucus where she researches and analyzes legislation on behalf of members and staff. In addition, she provides staffing to the following House Committees: Economic and Workforce Development, Finance Subcommittee on Higher Education, Financial Institutions, Higher Education, State and Local Government, and Sunset Review. She came to the legislature as a Fellow with the Legislative Service Commission and most recently, she served as legislative aide to State Representative Erica Crawley of Ohio's 26th District. Autumn enjoys working with members of the General Assembly to advance effective policies and tackle the most complex issues facing the State of Ohio.
Prior to her time in the legislature, Autumn completed a year of service with AmeriCorps VISTA at the University of Toledo. In her role as a Student Engagement and Outreach Specialist, she implemented Connect 2 Complete, a retention program focused on civic engagement among first generation, Pell Grant eligible college students. Autumn partnered with faculty, staff, and community partners to develop community engaged learning activities and referred students to appropriate campus and community resources. A first generation college student herself, Autumn understands the importance of supporting vulnerable populations of students as they transfer to institutions of higher education.
A native of Toledo, Ohio, Autumn has embraced Columbus as her new home. She serves as the Policy Chair for the Central Ohio Young Black Democrats, and is a member of the Columbus Urban League Young Professionals and the Franklin County Young Democrats. She received her undergraduate degree in in political science with a concentration in public administration from the University of Toledo.
