Ashley Mike is the Program Director for an AmeriCorps program called The Environmental Education Leadership Corps (EELCorps) that is administered by the Kentucky Environmental Education Council (KEEC). In her short tenure as the Program Director of EELCorps, Ashley has proven her dedication to the environmental education field by developing the program. By the end of the 2018-2019 service year, Ashley had recruited and supported over 17 members who reached more than 25,000 individuals at sites across Kentucky with crucial environmental education programming.
Before managing EELCorps, Ashley received her Bachelor's Degree in Sociology with minors in Communications and Women and Gender Studies from Berea College. After college, she went on to serve at Berea College's Forestry Outreach Center as an AmeriCorps VISTA, building capacity and creating an infrastructure for the then brand new Center that served the community by offering free hiking trails and inclusive environmental education programming. This is when her passion for national service officially began.
Because of her service, Ashley now strives to create an inclusive and effective program by focusing strongly on member support and the member experience, as she knows that the most valuable tool for national service is the members themselves. As a leader, Ashley tries to model the efforts of fellow leaders in order to exemplify her own passion for serving others in her work.
