Organizer, Wisconsin Conservation Voters
Ariana Hones is an organizer with Wisconsin Conservation Voters, where she works with communities in southeast Wisconsin to advance equitable environmental policy. Her work focuses on clean energy and clean drinking water, with an emphasis on intersectional environmental justice. Central to this work is holding elected leadership accountable and ensuring that every eligible voter in Wisconsin has access to the ballot box. Ariana has previously served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in northern Morocco where she worked with her community on youth development initiatives. Prior to her service in Morocco, she spent time as a reporter for her hometown summer newspaper The Green Laker. Ariana is a proud alumna of Macalester College, where she studied English literature and international studies. While at Macalester, Ariana served as Vice President of Macalester College Student Government where she and her team created an open pantry for students experiencing food and basic need insecurity. Ariana grew up in Ripon, Wisconsin on her family’s hobby farm. It was on the farm that her love of community, rural places, and connection to the land was formed. Ariana believes the world is a sacred and holy place. She is continuously curious about how to collectively heal our planet and our communities.
