Andy grew up in La Crosse, Wisconsin, and went to college in Milwaukee. He was the first in his family to graduate with a 4-year degree. During his time at UW-Milwaukee he discovered his love for volunteering in his community and it soon became a regular part of his life. He volunteers in his community often, and also loves adventuring outdoors. His other pleasures include running, yoga, cooking, camping, and gardening.
For a couple years, before moving to Burlington, he traveled and worked seasonal jobs in experiential education. He is proud of the travel he's done, and the friends he had met that helped him get to where he is now. It was during this time that his interest in leadership took hold. Working with youth in wilderness recreation programs ignited questions about what leadership is, looks like, what it means, and how it is organized. His experiences in domestic violence prevention, anti-hunger work, and social and racial justice has shaped his daily praxis and leadership style. Today, Andy works as a healthcare associate in Burlington.
