Alycia Washington is a social worker and an artist who provides informative resources and programming to children and families to strengthen their quality of life. She is currently a Family Engagement Specialist at two parochial schools in the Pittsburgh area.  Her previous role was providing support to an Executive Director of a community development organization located in downtown Pittsburgh. Alycia learned through all her experiences that when genuine, supportive relationships are created with people they can then build a strong foundation for their families.

Miss Washington holds a Master of Social Work from The University of Pittsburgh, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations and Advertising from Duquesne University.

Art is also a major part of Alycia’s life. Her artwork was featured as a rotating exhibit at Gasoline Street Coffee (Dec. 2017-Feb. 2018) and Distrikt Hotel’s Evangeline (Apr. 2018-Aug. 2018). She was also invited to the August Wilson Center’s Summer Block Party (July 2018) and August Wilson’s Birthday Celebration (Apr. 2018) in Pittsburgh’s Hill District. In the future, Alycia hopes to enhance the meaning behind her art as she matures. She also wishes to take part in local art festivals, teach art classes and one day open her own unique art therapy shop.

Alycia supports her community through Extra Mile Education Foundation’s Young Professional Advisory Committee, where she serves as the Sponsorship and Raffles Chair. She is also on Propel’s Council of Champions and an active member of GRLPWRPGH.

When she isn’t working or volunteering, you can find her exercising mental and physical rest, making art, playing sudoku and watching/listening to vloggers and podcasters, respectively.
