Aaron J. Thao is a Supervisor of Organization Development and Learning, where he oversees and manages the Management Trainee Program at Blue Shield of California. In this role his responsibilities include hiring, recruitment, program and project management, and people leadership. The Management Trainee is a 12-month job rotational leadership development program cultivating aspiring college graduates for frontline operation leadership roles in Customer Experience. Aaron has held roles in operations and project management prior to his current position. At work he is also an active member of the Shield Pride (LGBTQ) and APEN (Asian Pacific) employee resource groups. He holds a bachelor's degree from CSU, Chico majored in International Relations and minored in Spanish.
Aaron believes leaders in the workplace must also contribute and give back to the community, hence he is involved outside of work extensively. A big advocate for youth voices, he volunteers with Alliance for Education Solutions (AES), a non-profit focused on advocating and championing for vulnerable California students. He has served as an Advisory Board Member to the Davitto Leadership Academy, and a Lead Advocate for Sacramento Youth Alliance Community Action Team, both projects of AES. In addition, he is also volunteer staff with the NorthWest Association for Global Affairs through the NorthWest Model United Nations conferences in Seattle, WA and Portland, OR. He has served in Director and Assistant Director roles for the conferences, chairing and directing committees.
In his free time, Aaron loves to dance and hang out with his family and friends. To destress, he enjoys going to the gym, getting massages, catching up on shows, and treating himself to a reflection coffee/tea time. He also has a cute dog, named Daisy, who is the center of his world.
