Relationship Manager, University of South Florida
Kristy Andre MPH, MSM is a dynamic public relations and public health practitioner with vast and varied interests. A charismatic communicator, Kristy enjoys interacting with people from all walks of life and infusing what she learns from others to build trust, foster mutual respect, and effectively and creatively convey value. As a change agent and systems thinker, Kristy effortlessly finds commonalities, amplifies the strengths, and bridges people and resources together to optimize outcomes.
The catalyst of her career in service was serving two-terms in AmeriCorps, which led to 15 years of experience working in the nonprofit sector and academia in a variety of capacities. Her efforts include coalition building, community development, branding and public relations, change management, strategic planning, grant writing, fundraising, grassroots organizing, and special events. She has helped provide housing and transportation for homeless families, continued education for pregnant and parenting teen mothers, mentorship for first-generation college bound youth, legal aid for immigrants and human trafficking victims, arts intervention for juvenile offenders, life transformation of ex-militants through Kingian nonviolence training, medical aid and health education programs worldwide, and more.
Through her colorful experiences she realizes we are all bound by a common thread – the desire to leave a better world for future generations. Kristy has witnessed how reckless rhetoric, selfish strategies, tactless tactics, and morally bankrupt motives demoralize, demotivate, fuel divisiveness and derail progress. She knows the power of unity and unification - in our vision and goals, in our respect of each other’s values and differences, and in our resources and efforts.
Guided by the quote “we are called to be architects of the future, not its victims”, Kristy’s goal is to use her talents in the most effective and efficient ways possible to build resilient communities and enrich the quality of life. She aims to inspire and mobilize others while working to achieve equity through facilitating and fostering necessary systemic changes.
Kristy has worked at the University of South Florida College of Medicine for more than nine years, and is currently a Relationship Manager between IT and the college. She also serves as an Executive Board Member and coordinator with the College of Pharmacy’s WE-CARE program, a CBPR model that empowers minority populations to engage and participate in research. She has a B.S. in Public Relations with a minor in Organizational Leadership for Nonprofits from the University of Florida, and from the University of South Florida a M.S. in Management (Designing Sustainable Enterprises and Leadership & Organizational Effectiveness) and master’s in Public Health (Health Policy & Management and Public Health Practice). Kristy is a Florida native and aunt of five who enjoys sunshine, salt life, synchronicities, serendipities, soulful music, and spirited people.
Asst. to the County Administrator, Pasco County BCC
Paula Baracaldo is a versatile public administration professional with over six years of experience in county government. She currently serves as the Asst. to the County Administrator in Pasco County. In her current role, she acts as Chief of Staff for the Office of the County Administrator, managing special projects, and overseeing the Board of County Commissioners’ agenda process. During her tenure in Pasco County, she has worked in a variety of roles throughout the organization focusing on legislative issues, policy analysis, logistics and public outreach. Some of the projects she has managed include branding, wayfinding and signage, capital projects process improvement, strategic planning and the Charter government study process, among others. She is also a Leadership Development graduate for Pasco County.
Most recently, she was the Program Manager for the Government Affairs Office, where she managed public outreach initiatives and advocacy efforts for legislative and policy priorities of the Board of County Commissioners. During her tenure, she has been responsible for the creation and growth of the Pasco County Citizens’ Academy, engaging the community to learn more about the direct impact of local government in their everyday lives. She also acts as liaison for public/private initiatives and interacts with the public and community partners to gather feedback, improve policy and implement positive change.
Paula is an avid advocate for education and the role of local government in the lives of residents in her community. She is an Advisory Board Member to Young Entrepreneurial Students (Y.E.S.), a nonprofit organization that serves underprivileged youth by offering a path out of poverty through education and entrepreneurship. Never one to back down from a challenge and passionate about good governance, Paula has dedicated herself to ensure that her role in local government embraces differences to reach consensus.
Originally from Colombia, Paula is bilingual – speaking fluent Spanish – and has been a Tampa Bay resident for over 18 years. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and Political Science and Government from the University of South Florida, and a master's of Public Policy and Administration from Northwestern University. She enjoys traveling, reading, rooting for her favorite soccer team – Barcelona FC, watching the World Cup and is an avid follower of foreign films.
Program Director, St. Petersburg College
Belinthia is a native of Tampa, FL, one of three children raised by her mother, a single parent. She is a product of the local Hillsborough County schools system who holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Relations from Florida A & M University and a master’s in Organizational Leadership and Management from Springfield College. In her current role, she develops and maintain partnerships for St. Petersburg College as a Program Director managing workforce and professional development training programs that meet the needs of local and national businesses, industry and individuals.
As an advocate and community servant, Belinthia provides service and advocacy to her community by promoting leadership development, gender and racial equity through several local and national nonprofit organizations. She is a current Board of Director on the National Board for the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc. (NCBW), a women’s advocacy group. Locally, through the NCBW Tampa Bay chapter she serves as the current Vice President of Programs. She also served as the past third Vice President of Membership, Public Relations Coordinator, Public Policy Chair and co-chair of their mentoring group Career Explorations which is now JUST GIRLS. Her role in mentoring girls extends beyond the organization by helping them with school, attitude issues and resolving dilemmas with their parents. Her role as Public Policy chair has taken her to Washington D.C. and Tallahassee to advocate on behalf of issues pertaining to women and young girls. She has worked on projects such as the Teen Pregnancy Prevention, NCBW Cares for seniors and political forums.
Her passion and involvement in public policy issues, advocacy and collaboration at the local, state and federal level has giving her insight and a deep understanding of the many challenges and opportunities that individuals face on an ongoing basis which makes Belinthia a true advocate. As a transformational leader, Belinthia’s vision is to inspire women whether young or old to become involved in their communities, workplaces and all over the world.
Biology and Anatomy Instructor, Hillsborough County Public Schools
Remus is a high school Biology and Anatomy instructor for Hillsborough County Public Schools. He is also the Founder and Executive Director of The Iota Beta High School Fraternity, Inc., a non-profit organization that serves at-risk high school boys in the Tampa Bay area. Remus grew up in the inner city of Tampa, Florida, before receiving his bachelor's degree in Biology and Environmental Science from Florida State University. He received his master's degree in Educational Leadership from The University of Tampa.
Remus is a member of Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn's Equal Business Opportunity Advisory Council, as well as sits on the board for BUBBA, Inc. of Tampa. Remus has always been active in his community; mentoring youth, tutoring kids, and serving as the Youth Director at his church. Remus considers himself to be a servant leader, and is dedicated to improving the lives of those in his community. Remus is an advocate for education, economic empowerment, and equity.
New Business Staff Attorney
Amanda Corsentino believes that engaged communities are stronger communities. Her experiences in serving various neighborhoods in Tampa have taught her the value of citizens, business owners, nonprofits, and government agencies collaborating to address the needs of a community. Over the years, Amanda has worked for state, county and city governments, performing neighborhood outreach and legislative and legal analysis.
She is a former member of the East Tampa Community Advisory Committee, which advises City of Tampa staff and City Council concerning the funding and programs of the East Tampa Community Redevelopment Area. She currently serves as Vice President and Secretary of Temple Terrace Farm 2 School, a nonprofit organization that empowers youth for health and success through hands-on agricultural experiences.
Amanda works as a New Business Staff Attorney for international law firm White & Case, facilitating the approval of new business for White & Case partners around the world by identifying and resolving ethical and business conflicts. Amanda holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of South Florida and a JD from Stetson University College of Law. Amanda grew up in a multicultural family and is the proud daughter of an immigrant. Today, Amanda has her own multicultural, interfaith household and enjoys the richness that diversity brings to her world.
Homeless and HMIS Program Associate, Collaborative Solutions, Inc.
Christine Durrance is a native Floridian born and raised in Brandon, Florida, and lives in the Tampa Bay Region. She currently serves as a Program Associate with the national technical assistance firm, Collaborative Solutions, Inc., where she focuses on providing training and capacity development to government and nonprofit agencies serving special populations and vulnerable communities, including those who are experiencing homelessness. She leads a National Rural Youth Peer Network dedicated to preventing and ending youth homelessness in rural America. Her ten years of professional service have been dedicated to addressing systemic poverty and improving government and nonprofit policy and programming in the areas of: affordable housing, homelessness, LGBTQ and gender equity, domestic violence, and behavioral health.
Christine received her bachelor’s degree in Social Work and her master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of South Florida, where she served in multiple leadership roles and was a Presidential Management Fellowship Finalist in her last year of graduate school.
With a passion and commitment to social justice, Christine utilizes her personal and professional life to advocate for the most disenfranchised in both local communities and on a national scale. All of her life, Christine has been deeply motivated by the social and political revolutions that occurred in the United States during the 1960’s and considers President John F. Kennedy to be her greatest influencer regarding the kind of public servant she tries to emulate through her career and in future, political endeavors. Christine is a strong advocate of building a 21st century economy that harnesses the natural resources around us to ensure a sustainable climate and culture that benefit the “whole,” rather than the top percentile of Americans. As a 2018 NLC Fellow, Christine is committed to enhancing her skills around fundraising, leadership, networking, and effective messaging to craft a successful political campaign(s) as a young, Progressive Floridian.
In-House Counsel, Prime Asset Executives
Sergio Florez moved to Tampa, Florida with his family when he was seven years old. He attended University of South Florida in Tampa for his undergraduate studies where he was active in the campus and surrounding community. This is exemplified by his work supporting the Huntsman Cancer Institute through numerous philanthropic events during his time at the University of South Florida. He was away from the Tampa Bay area for a short time from 2012 to 2015 to attend law school at the Levin College of Law at the University of Florida.
He returned to Tampa in 2015 after completing law school to begin his current work as an associate in-house counsel for a local real estate investment trust. In the short time he has been a licensed attorney, Sergio has also represented numerous people in the Tampa Bay area with inexpensive and pro bono legal services in varying real estate issues, such as foreclosure defense and landlord-tenant disputes.
Sergio has strived to develop his professional network and community affiliations by becoming a member of the Hillsborough County Young Democrats, Hillsborough County Bar Association, and Tampa Hispanic Bar Association. He hopes to continue to develop his network and grow his presence in the Tampa Bay community.
Pharmacy Manager, Walgreens
A Tampa native, Dr. Jamaris Glenn, PharmD is a practicing pharmacist committed to community care. A doctoral recipient from Florida A&M University’s College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Dr. Glenn has served in an array of clinical environments including Tampa General Hospital and Moffitt Cancer Center. He began his journey as an entry level pharmacist in 2008 then fast tracked his way to being the youngest pharmacy manager in his district.
He is an advocate for senior outreach and has sat in leadership roles such as Medication Therapy Management District Lead and recruiting team leads for Walgreens Co. Communal servitude is a passion of Dr. Glenn’s and it is there that many of his key initiatives were formed.
Dr. Glenn has pushed for the importance of teaching the sciences to students at a young and impressionable age speaking in number of capacities including the Tampa Heights Junior Association for the Revived Back to School Summit. He is deeply rooted in the importance of creating diverse and inclusive spaces. He founded and orchestrated events such as Melanated, a day affair highlighting local Black-owned businesses. It connects millennials with Black entrepreneurs exposing them to the importance intergenerational wealth in their communities.
Bred & Butter LLC, a startup, is an intimate dining experience focused on connecting people from all walks of life through culture and cuisine. A staunch supporter for patient care advocacy, diversity sensitivity and inclusion and STEAM initiatives in the community Dr. Glenn continues to serve to cultivate a healthy Tampa that embraces these principles in leadership and business. Currently, Jamaris is fundraising to procure his own space that will serve as an inclusive incubator/hub for all millennials with a focus on the arts.
Community Activist and Attorney
Marcus Klebe serves on the Candidate Recruitment and Training Committee of the Hillsborough County Democratic Executive Committee (HCDEC) and also as a Precinct Committeeperson in Hillsborough County. In addition, Marcus is a member of the Democratic Progressive Caucus of Tampa Bay (DPCTB), where he serves on the Steering Committee, as Chair of the DPCTB Bylaws, Policies, and Procedures Committee and as Co-Chair of the DPCTB Campaign Committee. He is focused on identifying, recruiting and training progressive candidates for office.
Marcus spent many years working as a successful corporate attorney in New York, Germany and California, during which time he discovered an aptitude, and love, for mediation. As a trained mediator with the Better Business Bureau of Metropolitan New York, Inc. (Attorney Pro Bono Mediation Program), Safe Horizon (now called New York Peace Institute), and Kings County – Brooklyn Civil Court (through Safe Horizon, an approved Community Dispute Resolution Center), he helped resolve interpersonal conflicts in hundreds of cases.
Now, Marcus is using this skill set, which includes active listening, empowerment, validation and consensus-building, in community organizing. Marcus previously served as Political Advocacy Task Force Officer and on the steering committee of Indivisible Action Tampa Bay (IATB), a grassroots progressive group that has grown to nearly six thousand members since it was founded right after the 2016 November elections. During his tenure, he inspired and educated the members of the group to engage in political activism at the local, state and federal levels. Marcus is deeply committed to the revitalization of the Florida Democratic Party, doing his part to help build winning coalitions, as well as to drive Tampa Bay to the Left politically and forward into the future.
He received his undergraduate degree from Amherst College and his J.D. from New York University. Marcus lives in Tampa, Florida with his wife and four children, for whom he is the primary caregiver.
Vice President, Human Capital Consulting Group, MGT Consulting Group
Brandon Ledford is the Vice President of Human Capital at MGT Consulting Group focusing on pay equity and organizational change for government clients across the United States.
Brandon’s progressive roots grew out of being diagnosed with the African form of Burkitt’s Lymphoma at age nine. Burkitt’s Lymphoma is rare, but the African form is practically unheard of, and he was given only a five percent chance of survival. After a tough five-year battle using every experimental chemotherapy available, Brandon became the first person in the United States to survive this disease. Upon returning home from the hospital, his single mother was terminated from her job for missing time off to care for him. Fortunately, the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) had just passed, saving his mother’s job after assistance from the government. Brandon was able to witness first-hand how government can protect the worst-off in their moments of need, and he has since dedicated his life to these important public policy issues.
For over ten years, Brandon has assisted global clients in all industries with human capital, public policy, management consulting, strategy, business transformation, data analytics, and strategic communications. Prior to joining the MGT Consulting leadership team, Brandon was the Vice President overseeing the Human Resources, Policy and Compliance, and Revenue Performance Management departments of a global technology company and has been a consultant for both Booz Allen Hamilton and Deloitte.
Brandon is a former U.S. Supreme Court and White House Office of Science and Technology Policy intern and current Project Management Professional (PMP). He holds a Master of Public Policy from George Mason University’s School of Public Policy, a Bachelor of Arts from the Pennsylvania State University, and is earning an Innovation and Entrepreneurship Certificate from Stanford. Brandon’s proudest career moment is creating a deck entitled, “This Generation’s Sputnik Moment,” which was a line President Obama used in the 2011 State of the Union.
Brandon currently lives in Seminole Heights with his progressive, intelligent, beautiful wife, Kate, their dog, Zelda, and their soon-to-be first child.
Bernard (Dexter) Lewis
Community and Youth Liaison, The Corporation to Develop Communities of Tampa
Dexter Lewis is the Community and Youth Liaison for The Corporation to Develop Communities. He is a Tampa native. He graduated from Blake High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, where he did the music theater program. He also studied Music Theater at the Boston Conservatory for 2 years where he did a plethora of productions and realized his passion for helping others.
Kisha Linebaugh was born in Oxford, England into an Air Force family and spent her formative years in Germany. Her travel and experiences in Western Europe serve as the foundation for her core values and worldview. When she was relocated to the United States, she settled in Tampa, Florida, where Kisha graduated from Robinson High School and went on to attend the University of Tampa for three years where she was a scholarship member of the softball team. Weary of the demanding schedule of a scholarship athlete and longing for the collegiate activity at a division one university, Kisha transferred to the University of Florida where she graduated with a degree in Economics and fell in love with Gainesville.
Upon graduation she took a job in Public Relations and enjoyed hiking, rock climbing and white water kayaking in the Georgia and North Carolina mountains. Since that first job, she has worked a variety of jobs across many different industries including advertising, marketing, education, retail and sales. In 2015 Kisha left corporate America and became a Realtor, forming her own real estate team. When Kisha is not helping individuals achieve their dream of buying or selling a home, she takes delight in attending live music concerts, fine dining, relaxing on the beach and travel to almost anywhere.
Corporate Associate, Hill Ward Henderson
Ajay is an attorney in Tampa, Florida, specializing in corporate transactions. He graduated, cum laude, from the University of Florida with a degree in Classical Studies and a minor in Mathematics. While at the University of Florida, Ajay served as a co-director of Students Against Destructive Decisions where he partnered with community leaders to educate both UF students and adolescents in the Gainesville community about the importance of safe sexual practices and also to counsel them against drinking and driving. He also served as a member of the Executive Board of Alpha Epsilon Delta, a pre-professional honor society focused on community service. Ajay later attended and graduated from Cornell Law School. While at Cornell, Ajay worked in the Cornell Asylum & Convention Against Torture Clinic where he represented immigrants in asylum petitions before the Board of Immigration Appeals. He also completed an externship with the ACLU Immigrants’ Rights Project, where he assisted staff attorneys challenging the federal government’s unconstitutional practice of detaining immigrants in removal proceedings for a prolonged or indefinite duration of time without any meaningful opportunity for release.
Vice President, Merchant Insurance Solutions
Jen McDonald, Vice President, Merchant Insurance Solutions works with entrepreneurs to secure Insurance coverage for their businesses. Jen teaches a two hour insurance 101 for Entrepreneurs and Business owners within Hillsborough Community College Entrepreneurship certificate program. She has presented on this topic in numerous panel discussions within the Tampa Bay Entrepreneurship community. In 2017, she was awarded the Susie Steiner Community Impact Award in recognition for these efforts. Also in 2017, she was named the Chairwoman of the Business Advisory Board for Hillsborough Community College.
Field Organizer, NextGen America
Tristan is a Tampa transplant who grew up in rural North Carolina riding horses and climbing trees. She relocated to Tampa, Florida after entering graduate school at the University of South Florida in the College of Public Health. Within her master’s degree program she’s primarily interested in strategies to expand Medicaid and lower the entry-age to Medicare as crucial steps towards universal healthcare. Both issues directly affect her friends and family who struggle to find access to affordable healthcare. She firmly believes health is a human right and our policies should reflect this.
Business Intermediary, Independent Contractor
Terrell Russell is a native of Montgomery, Alabama and a veteran of the United States Air Force. In four years of active duty military, he was deployed twice in support of Iraqi Freedom. One included an assignment to the 70th Medium Truck Detachment where he was the truck commander during 14 convoy missions. His military experience includes numerous wartime decorations such as Army Achievement Medal, Global War on Terrorism, and many more.
After his military career, Terrell received his Doctor of Business Administration degree from Argosy University and is currently a Business Intermediary where he specializes in the procurement of small to midsize restaurants. He is also an Adjunct Faculty of Graduate Marketing at numerous online universities.
Terrell is on a mission to see more minority candidates with seats at the political table. He is currently pursuing an additional graduate degree in Political Management from The George Washington University. He intends to utilize this degree to assist with the growth of the newly found Hillsborough Young Black Progressives and to advocate for minority individuals interested in the political process.
Medical and Reimbursement Policy Financial Analyst, Managed Care Company
Mrs. Monica Simmonds is an experienced public health analytics professional and dynamic speaker with strong public health and managed care experience using healthcare services and outcome data. She is passionate about analytics and experienced with using big data for drawing meaningful insights that drive business decisions for leaders at all levels within healthcare organizations. She is a recognized subject matter expert for provider data analytics along the value based reimbursement continuum. In her current role for a large managed care company, she serves as the team lead for 40+ policy analytics projects and identification of medical cost reduction initiatives. She developed 25+ financial evaluations responsible for identifying millions in cost savings and containment opportunities. She conducts complex health policy analytics and cost containment projections using medical and pharmacy claims. In 2016, she was recognized by Senior leaders with three company awards for her valuable contribution to the company's matrix environment and enterprise wide initiatives.
Program Planner/Analyst, University of South Florida
Dedicated to mobilizing cultural, creative, and community resources for sustainable development, Maria Trogolo is a multilingual cultural heritage expert and musician. Currently, Maria works in the University of South Florida’s Office of Community Engagement and Partnerships. Maria leads impact areas around poverty and social justice; refugees, immigration, and human trafficking; and hunger and food security.

Kimberly R. Williams
Research Program Administrator, Health Outcomes/Behavior, H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute
Kimberly Williams, MS, MPH is a public health researcher who works in the Health Outcomes and Behavior Department at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute. In an effort to contribute to the science of cancer health disparities and to the prevention and cure of cancer, Kimberly manages one of seven regional networks for the Geographic Management of Cancer Health Disparities (GMaP) Program, a national program funded by the National Cancer Institutes (NCI), designed to advance cancer health disparities research, training, and outreach. She works with the other regions to bring together researchers, trainees and students, new and early-stage investigators, and community members to collectively identify and prioritize region-specific cancer research, training, and strategies for education and outreach efforts.
