Louisville, Ky., June 2, 2014 - Kentucky’s first Progressive Ideas Festival will be held in Louisville this Saturday. Guest speakers include Attorney General Jack Conway, Congressman John Yarmuth, and Senator Morgan McGarvey.
Hosted by the New Leaders Council (NLC) Kentucky chapter, the Progressive Ideas Festival will bring together non-profits and progressively-minded businesses from around the Commonwealth to showcase ideas and initiatives with festival attendees. NLC is a 501(c)(3) that works to recruit, train, and promote the progressive political entrepreneurs of tomorrow — trendsetters, elected officials and civically-engaged leaders in business and industry. The NLC Kentucky chapter is now in its second year."As someone who has lived in Kentucky and seen the political and public policy debates, we have an opportunity here for a real impact with the next generation,” said Matt Tompkins, NLC National Development Director. “Having a program like NLC in Kentucky to provide training on skills needed to run a state house or run a business is key. On top of that, NLC provides a national network of like- minded individuals that gives someone in Kentucky an outlet for ideas, discussion and new perspective on how things get done elsewhere."
The Progressive Ideas Festival will be held at The Green Building , 732 E. Market Street in Louisville, Ky. from 3 P.M. to 6 P.M. General admission tickets are currently on sale online for $25. Booth spaces are still available at this time for non-profits or business that would like the opportunity to showcase their progressive work or engage potential new members. Space is limited and sponsorships are also available."NLC is building and having success where no one else dares,” said Tompkins. “When you build strong communities, you build a foundation for a real movement that can enact real change."For more information, contact the Progressive Ideas Festival Chair, Teresa Lajara at firstname.lastname@example.org or 914-438-3561.
