NLC is stepping up in 2017

The past few weeks have been an incredibly exciting time for NLC. We have launched this year's NLC Institute, celebrated with our alumni who are impacting their communities, and marched for the progressive values we share. We are excited to see what our community accomplishes in 2017.

NLC kicks off its 2017 Institute

Our chapters across the country kicked off 2017 with a commitment to continue building the progressive bench. This year, our Institutes will train more than 800 progressive leaders in 43 communities across the country.

This month our new Fellows engage in the NLC Life Entrepreneurship program. Guided by our outstanding team of volunteer facilitators, Fellows reflect on their lives and determine how best to achieve their individual and community goals while making lasting connections with their cohort.

NLC recognized at an Anti Inaugural Ball in NYC
We were honored to have the support of a group of like-minded professionals, activists, students and artists who came together to support progressive values at the Anti-Inaugural Ball in New York City last week.

New Leaders Council and New American Leaders Project were recognized for our work. Thank you to our supporters who attended.

If you weren’t able to join us in NYC, it’s not too late to grab your ticket to NLC New York City’s The Rise Ball.

NLC turns out for the #WomensMarch

We’re so proud of the members of the NLC community who joined millions to march for women’s rights in Washington, D.C. and in cities across the country. Standing together, advocates for human rights, dignity. and justice showed up in numbers that are simply too big to ignore.

NLC trained 1,200 Activist-Attorneys on how to move the needle in the coming
years

NLC was honored to be the featured trainers at the first RISE ABOVE conference, hosted by  Lawyers for Good Government and RISE When We Fall. To over 1,200 registrants NLC provided trainings on how to build an effective advocacy coalition, and discussed how these activist-attorneys can work to bring about progressive change. We thank Lawyers for Good Government and RISE When we Fall for their partnership.

ICYMI: NLC is building the progressive bench

There has been some exciting news from the NLC community over the past week. In just a few days, NLC alumni have been elected, sworn in, or appointed to local office. These leaders join dozens of NLC alumni who have been elected or appointed to public office, or are working for progressive candidates.

Check out these outstanding alumni who are dedicating their time and talents to progressive values in their communities.

ICYMI: What’s next

Mark Riddle, NLC's President, and Brett Seifried, NLC's General Counsel, published an outline what’s next for the progressive movement. After this weekends events, swinging from the inauguration of Donald Trump to the movement-making Womens' March, NLC presents the path forward for the movement. You can read this piece in The New Leader, NLC’s recently launched policy and politics journal.
