NLC is building the progressive bench

There has been some exciting news from the NLC community over the past week. In just a few days, NLC alumni have been elected, sworn in, or appointed to local office. These leaders join dozens of NLC alumni who have been elected or appointed to public office, or are working for progressive candidates.

NLC Atlanta 2010 Fellow Darius Pattillo was sworn in yesterday following his election as the Henry County District Attorney in Georgia. 

NLC Atlanta 2017 Fellow Brenda Lopez will join the Georgia General Assembly as a State Representative. Brenda was the first Latina elected to the Georgia State House of Representatives.

NLC Washington, DC 2015 Fellow and NLC Maryland board member Jheanelle Wilkins was elected by a special committee to the Maryland General Assembly as a Delegate.

NLC Houston founding board member Kristen Brauchle Hawkins was elected and sworn in as the first woman judge of the oldest court in Houston, the 11th District Court. 

NLC Louisiana 2014 Fellow Ethan Ashley was sworn in yesterday evening as a member of the Orleans Parish School Board. 

NLC Chicago 2012 Fellow Rachel Hoge was named Senior Advisor for Fundraising & Strategy to Chicago City Treasurer Kurt Summers.
