Getting ready for summer

Getting ready for summer

Over the next few weeks, the NLC family will add approximately 700 new graduating Fellows. They will join over 2,400 former Fellows as they too become NLC alumni.

We’ve had a tremendous start to 2015, and there’s a lot more in store.

Every year at this time, we host our Fellows’ Fundraisers. Be sure to check the website for the chapter near you to buy a ticket if you haven’t already.

And if you’re in NYC tomorrow, June 2nd, our New York City Chapter will host their 8th annual Fellows Fundraiser at Taj Lounge. This year's theme is "Lights. Camera. Leaders in Action!". Please join our NYC Fellows and special guests Burns Strider and Sasha Fisher to celebrate progressive entrepreneurs taking action in their communities. Complete details and tickets here:

National Leadership Retreat

Registration is now open for the 2015 NLC Retreat:

This year’s Retreat brings together over 250 progressive leaders from across the country in Washington D.C. on July 23-25, to continue to build NLC and lead on the pressing issues of today. We have conversations and panels planned to tackle issues related to environmental and energy sustainability, how technology serves as a provider of opportunity and upward mobility, and the evolving healthcare system, among other areas.

We are honored to host our conversations on education, job skills, and employment as well as on social justice and the urban agenda, at the White House with key members of the Administration. We have come far over the past few years to be invited to join White House policy officials for candid conversations on the issues young people are facing today. It is be a great and unique opportunity that you will not want to miss.

Also, I am happy to announce today that Sen. Wendy Davis (TX) will be joining us as a keynote during retreat. All my thanks to her for speaking with us. We have many other exciting leaders in the pipeline to join us, and I will keep you informed as we add more to the lineup.

Retreat is also a time to connect with like-minded folks near and far and to strategize for the next year. If you are a member of NLC chapter leadership, please come ready to roll up your sleeves and plan for the 2015-2016 NLC programmatic year.

Be sure to register today if you have not already done so, here:

Florida & Southern Conversation

NLC is also proud to host our 3rd annual Florida and Southern Conversation. This year, members of our six Florida chapters as well as members in Atlanta, Augusta, Kentucky, Louisiana, Nashville, and North Carolina will gather in Orlando, FL on August 21 and 22 to discuss the issues facing Florida and the southern region and potential solutions. We look forward to announcing details soon, as well as the registration opening, but for now, please save the date.

Institutes, Alumni, and NLC4

As 2015 institutes come to a close, we invite all NLC’s alumni, to continue to be the cornerstone of the part of the NLC family. NLC4, NLC’s action arm, was launched as the “what’s next” step for NLC alumni, to engage the progressive community and further connect and educate around, and advocate for progressive policy.
