Today, New Leaders Council (NLC) announces Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx and Florida State Representative Loranne Ausley have joined NLC’s national leadership team as honorary co-chairs. These outstanding public servants will support NLC and its 43 chapters and 4,000 alumni who are rebuilding the progressive bench in states and local communities nationwide.

Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx is the first African American woman to lead the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, which is the second largest prosecutor’s office in the United States. Foxx has had a lifelong passion for public service. Before being elected State’s Attorney, she served as Chief of Staff for Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle, where she was the lead architect of the county’s criminal justice reform agenda to address racial disparities in the criminal and juvenile justice systems. She also served for 12 years as an Assistant State’s Attorney in Cook County.

“I am very excited to support NLC by joining the national leadership team as an honorary co-chair,” said Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx. “Rebuilding the bench and focusing on local communities must be our focus in the coming years, and NLC is leading the way in this effort. The NLC community is full of young leaders who share my deep commitment to public service, and I look forward to working with them to foster and mobilize the next generation of leaders.”

State Representative Loranne Ausley is a sixth-generation North Floridian, attorney, and public servant. As a state representative, Ausley has been an ardent fighter for transparency and worked to invest in Florida’s future by championing the Children’s Cabinet and investing to protect public schools. As the chair of Florida Healthy Kids Corporation, Ausley oversaw a $300 million public-private institution to provide health insurance for children in Florida.

“I am proud to be joining the NLC community as a national honorary co-chair,” said Florida State Representative Loranne Ausley. “The mission of NLC could not be more important. During this time when we must regroup and rebuild, the efforts by NLC are critical. I am eager to work with and empower NLC’s dynamic network of young professionals across the nation to step up and bring leadership to their communities.”

“We are incredibly excited to have State’s Attorney Foxx and Representative Ausley joining the NLC national leadership team,” said NLC Board Chairman Chris Kelly. “As we continue our focus of improving communities, having the support of these two outstanding public servants will help guide our mission to build a governing coalition of next generation leaders.”
