2017 NLC Institute, Spark! Talks, and more!
I am inspired by the dedication of our NLC community to our mission and shared progressive values. Our chapter leaders across the country are diligently preparing for the 2017 NLC Institute, recruiting the next class of NLC Fellows, kicking off policy lecture series, and more. I am also excited to share with you the first three NLC Spark! Talks from our National Leadership Retreat in July.
NLC had a remarkable summer, and I cannot wait to see where our community takes us as we work together to build America’s future.
Apply for the 2017 Institute
The NLC Institute is an intensive, five-month progressive entrepreneurship training program. It is the premier leadership and professional development, training, mentoring, networking, and career advancement program for progressive young professionals. Our Fellows learn from high-quality faculty who are experts in their fields.
NLC commits to recruiting NLC Fellows outside of traditional power structures. Applicants to the NLC Institute are from diverse backgrounds representing all races, ethnicities, gender identifications, abilities, and socio-economic circumstances. Since 2008, more than 50% of applicants have been women and people from non-white racial or ethnic backgrounds. Last year, 56% of applicants were women and nearly 60% were from non-white racial or ethnic backgrounds. Our commitment to diversity underscores the necessity of building a progressive network that truly reflects the future of America.
The deadline to apply is November 14th, 2016 at 3 pm EST.

Introducing NLC Spark! Talks
One of the highlights of this summer’s NLC National Leadership Retreat was the launch of NLC Spark! Talks, 5-minute presentations from members of our community on topics that ignite their passion for social justice, immigration reform, empowering all people to serve our country, and more. These Spark! Talks have already been viewed thousands of times on our social media platforms, and we could not be more excited about the impact these leaders are having in their communities.
