In light of the issues surrounding net neutrality, education, income inequality, and the tragic events of Ferguson, Missouri, and the death of Eric Gardner, the Philadelphia Chapter will host a forum on how our founding documents inform (and come up short on) the rights we have taken for granted as 21st Century Americans. Our Modern Constitutional Convention will, much like the first in 1787, bring to delegates from New England and the Mid-Atlantic to Philadelphia’s famed Old City to discuss how we can continue to form a more perfect union.
Whether you are a fellow, alumni, or friend of NLC, will you join us -- alongside the likes of David L. Cohen (Executive VP, Comcast), Burns Strider (President, American Values Network), Roz McPherson (President, Urban League of Philadelphia) and others -- for a day of dynamic discussion about our embattled and emerging Constitutional rights. As an entrepreneur, mover, shaker, doer, will you join our task as we ask ourselves: what do We the People believe in? What will we fight for?
Mark Riddle, Executive Director, New Leaders Council
David L. Cohen, Executive Vice President, Comcast
Roz McPherson, President & CEO, Urban League of Philadelphia
Frank Banca, Community Organizer, JusticeWorks YouthCare & InsideOut Prison Exchange
PA Senator Daylin Leach
WHY SHOULD YOU ATTEND? Former Congressman and American Statesman Joe Torsella:
As someone who has had the extraordinary privilege of spending much of my life thinking about our ongoing American experiment, it inspires me to see a new generation discussing both our current challenges and our founding documents in the place where 'We the People' was born. Discourse like this strengthens our democracy, and I encourage our emerging public service leaders to join this exciting and timely conversation.
