Alexandra Aiello, Government Relations Intern, Meyer, Suozzi, English, and Klein, P.C.

Alexandra Aiello is a Government Relations Intern at Meyer, Suozzi, English, and Klein, P.C. and has served in various leadership positions on local, state, and federal political campaigns including Bill Owens for Congress, Noelle Kinsch for County Legislator, and Shawn Mitchell for State Senate. Since 2003, Alexandra has been a volunteer with the New York East Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership seminar in Troy, NY which provides youth with leadership training, service learning, and motivation-building experiences. Alexandra is also an active volunteer with Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York and also organizes food and hygiene drives that have benefited the United Way of the Greater Capital Region and the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Capital Region. Alexandra graduated from State University of New York, College at Oneonta with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Bachelor of Science in Philosophy and was a Student Association Senator, Training Director for WONY 90.9FM, Staff Writer for the State Times, and Community Service Chair of Sigma Gamma Phi sorority. She is an avid cyclist and enjoys riding down the Capital Region's gorgeous bike lanes and paths. She is originally from Callicoon Center, NY.

Eddie Ayala, Campaign Manager, Kindlon for District Attorney

A native Floridian, Eddie has lived in the Capital District since 2005. Eddie is currently the campaign manager for Lee Kindlon, a candidate for District Attorney, and oversees the day-to-day operations of the campaign. A former campaign manager for the Democratic Assembly Campaign Committee and Communications Coordinator for the Assembly majority, Eddie has worked on Assembly campaigns across the state, and most recently managed Assemblyman Phil Goldfeder’s 2011 Special Election victory in Queens. Prior to moving to Albany, Eddie worked for the Florida Justice Association, the state’s trial lawyers association; Florida Red & Blue, an organization dedicated to defeating Florida’s same-sex marriage ban; and the Florida Democratic Party. An avid soccer fan, Eddie graduated from Florida State University (go Noles!) and currently lives in Center Square with his wife and their dog, Parker.

Daniel Cain, Legislative Assistant, DKC Government Affairs

Daniel Cain is currently serving as Legislative Assistant at DKC Government Affairs. He is responsible for numerous research projects, client outreach, the tracking and development of legislation and legislative outreach plans. Daniel joins DKC with five years of experience in political communications, campaign management and legislative experience. Dan was a former Senior Regional Communications Coordinator with the New York State Assembly and Campaign Coordinator for the Democratic Assembly Campaign Committee where he organized and managed Assembly campaigns across New York State. Daniel graduated from SUNY Oneonta with a Bachelors in Political Science. Daniel was born and raised in a small town in Upstate New York where he enjoyed playing sports including Soccer, Tennis, Track and Field and Snowboarding and spending time with his family.

Matthew Cannon, Director of Integrated Media, Gramercy Communications

Matt Cannon is the Director of Integrated Media at Gramercy Communications, a premiere public relations, marketing and public affairs firm in Downtown Albany. Prior to coming to Gramercy Communications, Matt was employed as a Coordinator for The New York State Assembly. In this role, he actively reviewed local news in districts throughout New York State and produced relevant communications products for multiple Assembly Members. Throughout the legislative session, Matt did any research necessary to provide more than twenty Assembly Members with the pertinent information for bill votes, especially during the fast paced budget season. Matt received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Northeastern University in Boston. He had co-op internships with an advertising firm that represented national movie studios and at Harvard University. While in Boston, he worked for major TV networks ESPN and NESN doing freelance production of sporting events including the Boston Marathon, the World Series, Monday Night Football and NBA and NHL playoffs. Matt is the 2012 Communications Co-Chair for the Public Relations Society of America, Capital Region Chapter. Matt grew up in Latham and has assisted as a coach with North Colonie Pop Warner.

John Eddy, Deputy Director, Conference Services, New York State Assembly Communication and Information Services

John Eddy is Deputy Director of Conference Services at the New York State Assembly Department of Communication and Information Services, where he assists all Democratic Conference Members with their communications efforts and oversees the continued development of the Assembly’s internet-based communications. Prior to that, he served as a Regional Communications Coordinator and Legislative Researcher for the Assembly Majority. John received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Administration from Utica College in Utica, NY. While in college, he interned with then-Assemblywoman RoAnn Destito’s office as a Community Relations Intern. John has also managed multiple campaigns for Democratic candidates for State Assembly, as well as volunteering for Democratic candidates at the local, state and federal levels. John grew up in Old Forge, NY and works as a Whitewater Rafting Guide in the Adirondacks in his spare time.

Lorayne Pescatore, Associate, Scanlan Communications Group

Lorayne Pescatore is an Associate at Scanlan Communications Group in Glenmont, NY. After completing dual bachelor's degrees at SUNY Old Westbury in Media and Communications and American Studies, she took steps that would turn her passion for progressive politics into a life-long career pursuit. An internship in the Senate Office of Hillary Clinton in the Veteran’s Affairs Department, and work on Hon. Clinton’s Presidential Campaign, proved challenging and exciting, and Lorayne relished the opportunity to meet progressive leaders, and assist with the service of constituents who served in the US Military. Another internship at Regional News Network helped Lorayne understand the complex relationship between media outlets and our political atmosphere, and she was eager to utilize what she had learned and help progressive leaders get elected to positions where they can serve and protect the rights of our fellow citizens. Lorayne moved to the Capital District of New York after attending Graduate School at Hofstra University, where she studied Speech Communication with a focus in Political Strategy, and has worked on several progressive campaigns in our area. Lorayne is thrilled to be a Fellow in The New Leaders Council, and having the opportunity to meet like-minded individuals and ensure that voters are protected and our best interests are supported by progressive leadership.

Jeremy Shannon, Principal Architect, Prospect Architecture, PC

Jeremy R. M. Shannon is the Principal Architect of Prospect Architecture, PC, a sustainable design-build firm located in Brooklyn, NY. He holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Virginia Polytechnic and State University and is, as well a LEED Accredited Professional, BPI Envelope, Heating, and Multifamily Specialist, and is a Certified Passive House Consultant. He has served as Vice President of the national Passive House Alliance, a trade organization created to promote the growth of Passive House in the United States. He is also a part time instructor at Parsons The New School. Jeremy specializes in residential townhouse and multifamily building construction using sustainable materials and focusing on energy efficiency without sacrificing the aesthetics or character of existing buildings. He designed and was the construction manager of the renovation and retrofit of multiple Passive House townhouses in Brooklyn New York. Jeremy has presented Passive House and energy efficient building techniques as a guest speaker at many different venues including the National Passive House Convention, the National AIA Convention, and the Municipal Art Society's Conference on Preservation and Climate Change.

Kaleigh Ziobro, Client Services Coordinator, Patricia Lynch Associates, Inc.

Kaleigh Ziobro is a client services coordinator with Patricia Lynch Associates, Inc., one of New York State’s top government relations firm. Through policy research and legislative tracking, she works directly with firm associates to best meet the needs of the company’s diverse clientele. Kaleigh graduated summa cum laude from Canisius College in May of 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. As an undergraduate, she completed an internship with Patricia Lynch Associates in their Buffalo office. While in college, Kaleigh also interned at the Erie County Veteran's Service Agency as a legislative research assistant, and volunteered with the Cicero Democratic Committee. In school, Kaleigh was a member of the Political Science Honor Society, Pi Sigma Alpha, and was the recipient of the Pi Sigma Alpha Award for outstanding achievement in political science in her graduating class. A newcomer to the Capital Region, Kaleigh moved to Albany in the fall of 2011. She hails from Cicero, NY where she enjoys spending time with her mom and three younger sisters and cheering on the Syracuse Orange.

NLC does not engage in political or legislative activities of any kind, does not support or oppose any candidate for public office, and serves only as an educational leadership training ground.
